People go on beach vacations for a variety of reasons. Maybe you want to chill out and get a tan, maybe you want adventure. Maybe you want to get away from the kids or spend more time on the beach with the kids. Or just maybe you want to give your relationship some TLC. If you’d like the change for a memorable date night while on a beach vacation to Mexico, look no further. Here are some of our tried and true, never-fail ideas for high-romance date night ideas.
Date Night Yoga
Choose a date night yoga class, and melt into a meditative state with your love. There are tons of yoga studios all over Mexico to choose from, some offering partner-specific classes. Our favorite is Yoga by the Sea, a particularly lovely studio on the eastern tip of the country, Playa del Carmen, that’s located (you guessed it) right by the ocean. They have evening hatha or restorative flow group classes nearly every evening from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Then you can go directly from your class to take a blissful sunset walk on the beach. Bonus romance points if you walk hand in hand!
Night Kayaking
You’ve probably heard of bioluminescence — the biological phenomenon that naturally lights up jellyfish and anglerfish. Well, there are some places in the world where the nighttime water is laced with a bioluminescent glow during certain times of the year, and you can see stretches of water lit up as if by magic. Manialtepec Lagoon in Oaxaca, Mexico is one of these places. There are several places along the beach to rent kayaks (one of them is La Puesta del Sol, 954-588-3867), and experience the nighttime majesty for yourself with your partner. Talk about romance!
Turn it Up in Mexico City
If the previous two ideas sound nice but a little snoozy to you, maybe a high-octane, high-excitement night out in Mexico City is more your speed. We suggest Mama Rumba, where wall-to-wall dancing on the main floor and on the balcony floor will definitely heat up your night. It’s a city favorite for live Salsa music and other Latin beats. Expect crowds and a small cover charge, but also expect it to be worth it!
