Nobu Hotels does it again—but this time in the metropolitan harbor resort city of Cabo San Lucas. A creation of world-renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa and actor Robert De Niro, the opening of Nobu Hotel Los Cabos marks the hotel brand’s debut on Mexican soil.
Matsuhisa and De Niro have been working together since their successful joint venture on Nobu restaurant in New York City more than 25 years ago. The brainy duo carried the sushi restaurant’s unrivaled success into the hotel business when the first Nobu Hotel launched in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace in 2013. Since then, Nobu Hotels are opening all over the map and we couldn’t be more excited about the Los Cabos location.
Inside Nobu Hotel Los Cabos
The 200-room contemporary property oozes luxurious simplicity. The beachfront hotel’s sleek minimalist look with Japanese flair offers everything you need on one of Mexico’s most beautiful beaches. While there are varying levels of rooms and suites, all 200 have a balcony and tub or special onsen-style soaking tub.
Rooms come equipped with yoga mats, wet swimsuit bags and Natura Bissé bath amenities so you’re equally equipped to let loose and have fun as you are to kick back and relax. Room service takes on a whole new meaning inside these walls, as it’s coming from Nobu or Malibu Farm—but we’ll get to that in a moment.
Over-the-Top Amenities
Float your worries away at one of the four pools or have a year’s worth of tension worked out by a professional masseuse at the spa—which is more than 13,000 square feet. There’s also a fully-equipped fitness center and nearby golf course.
Gourmet & Beachfront Dining
The glam reputation and popularity of Nobu Matsuhisa’s restaurants have spilled over in the hotel brand, but it’s no coincidence. Chef Nobu Matsuhisa himself is behind Nobu Los Cabos, where you’ll enjoy Japanese-fusion cuisine and expansive ocean views through glass interiors. The restaurant serves up his signature dishes like rock shrimp tempura and miso black cod—that even Robert De Niro can’t stop eating—plus specialty dishes unique to the seaside location.
Malibu Farm doesn’t have the ocean view, but it’s unlikely you’ll notice once you taste the food. The Mexico outpost offers the same light and airy vibes with no shortage of class as Chef Helene Henderson’s original restaurant in Malibu, California. Feast on farm-to-table specialties with no doubt in your mind that everything is organic and fresh as can be. The menu leaves no one out with options for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters.
If that’s not enough, the beach hotel has seven bars strewn about the property, including a beach bar and swim-up bar.
Upcoming Additions
Throughout the rest of 2019, Nobu Hotels is debuting hotels across the globe by 2020, including in Barcelona, Riyadh, Toronto, São Paulo and Tel Aviv.
