Viñales
Getting there from Havana: Viñales is best reached by car. Approximately 3.5 hours drive by bus or 2.5 hours by car.
Just a four-hour bus ride from Havana, Viñales is a welcome change of pace from bustling cities, offering a prime example of small-town Cuban life. You can do everything from making cuban cigars and horseback riding to rock climbing and eco-farm tours. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Valle de Viñales if you want to spend the day taking a stroll through the rolling fields of local tobacco farms and viewing impressive limestone formations called mogotes. Be sure to visit the Mural de la Prehistoria just outside Viñales—it’s a giant mural of animals on the Mogoto Pita portraying world history from dinosaurs to humans, painted back in the 1960s.
