Favorite Destinations:
- Baja California Peninsula, Mexico – I fell so head over heels with Baja, I moved there in 2018 for the beautiful beaches, amazing people, incredible food, and many different types of whales, including some that enjoy a good hug!
- Ireland – I have family in Ireland and have been visiting nearly every year since 1999 to enjoy the breathtaking coast where emerald mountains dip down to idyllic beaches, intriguing history with thousands of castles, and friendly people with the best sense of humor. (squeezing in a bonus destination, Scotland is within each reach and a dream with Caribbean-like beaches and orcas!)
- Greece – I’m intrigued by its ancient history, love Greek food, and there are over 220 inhabited islands, many with magnificent beaches like Crete and Naxos, two of my favorites.
- South Africa – The South African coast is stunning and the wildlife is incredible, including whale watching from Hermanus and a beach where you can get up close to penguins, not to mention Kruger National Park, home to all the Big Five and much more.
Fun Facts:
- Stood on a remote beach in Alaska while surrounded by grizzly bears, kayaked off Vancouver Island B.C. with a mother orca and her calf alongside, and paddled through the Amazon after dark with the glowing red eyes of dozens of caimans staring back at me.
- Spent the night in a remote haunted castle in Ireland alone.
- Spent nearly a year camping and volunteering across much of the U.S. while transitioning from a ‘cubicle’ career to freelance writing.
