Charity De Souza is Beach’s Managing Editor. Born and raised in Florida, Charity was bitten by the travel bug on her first international trip to London.
Charity was a full-time traveler for 5+ years. Some of her favorite experiences include skydiving in Switzerland, road-tripping through Iceland, and watching a sunset in the Sahara Desert. She currently lives in Portugal but spends considerable time traveling each year. She’s a seasoned traveler, exploring 60+ countries as a solo traveler, digital nomad, and now as a family and mother of two. Along the way, she’s called the UK, Bali, New Zealand, Thailand, and China home.
Charity has nearly 10 years of experience as a travel writer and editor, with her work appearing in acclaimed travel sites such as Kayak and HotelsCombined, and she has previously written for brands such as Trips to Discover, Carnival Cruises, and smarTours. Her work has been featured in publications like The New York Times, Yahoo! News, Boston.com, iHeart.com, ESPN Southwest Florida, and more. Charity’s writing expertise spans numerous topics, ranging from local Florida content to destination guides in Europe and Asia and the best hotels and vacation rental stays across the globe.
Before joining Beach, Charity worked as a Psychology professor at a University with her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida. In 2014, she moved to London to pursue a Masters in Business from Brunel University London and began her new career as a freelance travel writer and editor.
