6. San Juan, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico’s capital San Juan is fascinating. With about 500 years of intriguing history, Old San Juan is the oldest city in the U.S. and dates back to when the Spanish settlers first arrived in 1509. This historic site’s beautiful history is always on display through its colorful colonial architecture. Fort El Morro and San Cristóbal are the two most popular attractions in Old San Juan. San Juan Cemetery’s elaborate tombstones and statues are perched along the coast next to El Morro. Many of the island’s earliest colonists are buried there.
