5. Fort Charlotte, Bahamas
Built in 1793, Fort Charlotte is a large stone fort in Nassau, Bahamas. The well-preserved fort sits on a hill overlooking the harbor and Paradise Island. Fort Charlotte covers more than 100 acres and is actually three separate forts—Fort D’Arcy, to the west, Fort Charlotte to the east and Fort Stanley in the middle. The fort features 42 cannons and is surrounded by a moat, dungeon and underground tunnels. The tunnels were the hidden passage of guards, which all makes a fascinating excursion.
