4.Willemstad, Inner City and Harbor, Curaçao
The best examples of Dutch architecture in the Caribbean is on the island of Curaçao. The historic city, Willemstad features pastel-colored buildings many of them designed in traditional Dutch brick style and dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The Punda district is enclosed by walls and features the 1635 Fort Amsterdam, the 1732 Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue and the 1769 Dutch Reformed Church. Of course, soaking up the atmosphere also includes exploring the stately mansions in Pietermaai, low detached buildings in Otrobanda and Curaçao’s colonial history at the Kura Hulanda Museum.
