Here are five of the most beautiful, unusual and photogenic spots in the British Virgin Islands to give you an unforgettable beach vacation and boost your Instagram game.
The Baths
Located on Virgin Gorda, the Baths are the most famous and possibly most-photographed location in all the British Virgin Islands. These gigantic volcanic boulders are stacked on top of one another, creating small grottoes underneath. The light gray and white of the boulders set against the crystalline blue of the water makes for dramatic photos and fantastic snorkeling.
Soper’s Hole
Hit this spot at the western end of Tortola for sunrise photos filled with colors so vivid your friends will swear you used some filter magic. Stay for at least 30 minutes after sunrise because the show keeps going. On top of that, the coastal views, mega yachts in the marina and lush Jurassic-Park-like greenery of the slopes make a perfect Instagram backdrop. Head to nearby Pusser’s Landing when you’re done for a snack or a cool drink.
The Caves
There are no bad spots for pictures on Norman Island—it’s completely uninhabited, except for wild goats. If you’re a little more adventurous, hop a snorkel boat and head out to the Caves, one of the best snorkeling spots anywhere. You can photograph the reddish caves as they rise up from the blue-green water, then strap on a mask and snorkel to take shots of the exotic fish and reef with an underwater camera.
Anegada Island
For the ultimate picture of miles of deserted white sand, you can’t do better than the southern coast of Anegada. The island is remote and sparsely populated, so feel free to explore. You may spot kite surfers on the north side or wild orchids and the native rock iguana in the center. With so much beauty and so few people, photos of this island are bound to inspire Instagram jealousy.
Brewers Bay
By some accounts, Brewers Bay is the best beach in Tortola. It’s has miles of white sand, clear blue water you expect in the Caribbean, giant palm trees and the sunsets are golden and glorious.. Position one of those palm trees in the corner of your shot, and you’ll create a postcard-worthy beach photo.
