Debuting January 27, 2019, S Hotel Jamaica opens with 120 rooms and aims to be the hotspot in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Cosmopolitan and stylish with Jamaican flair, think slightly more Mykonos in feel than older Caribbean resorts.
The hotel is right on Montego Bay’s “Hip Strip” where stores, art galleries, dining and entertainment line the street. Previously called Gloucester Avenue, after the duke of Gloucester, England who had his winter home on the Bay, the street was recently renamed Jimmy Cliff Boulevard after Jamaica’s own beloved musician and actor. You can’t get any closer to the action while still having your own oasis away from it all—S Hotel is located at 7 Jimmy Cliff Boulevard!
Curated Design of S Hotel Jamaica
Miami-based luxury design firm Antrobus + Ramirez (whose next project is the Waldorf Astoria Miami) directed the Jamaica hotel’s design. One half of the duo, Alison Antrobus, is Jamaican born and brought her feel for the island’s style to the project. This team worked to create the perfect blend of international-chic and Caribbean cool, showcased best in the hotel lobby. Featuring a 25-foot wall of coral stone and a boardwalk of local Jatoba hardwood, this area highlights the glamour of the natural surroundings, creating the tone for the rest of your stay.
”We’re creating a new kind of hotel in Montego Bay, one that infuses modern Jamaican culture balanced with the sophistication of an urban hotel and the laidback style of a beach resort, appealing to international travelers and locals alike.”
-Chris Issa, founder of S Hotel and Crissa Hotels
S Hotel Jamaica Pool & Doctor’s Cave Beach
The lobby leads out to the main swimming pool and beach, a central hangout spot where swim-out cabanas line the pool, so each lounge chair area is only a step from the pool’s edge. In-pool lounges descend into the larger full-length swimming area. This gives the opportunity for those swimming to interact with friends laying on the sunbeds.
The stylish nature of the pool and surrounding area make it a place to see and be seen at the resort and on the Strip. The pool is just steps from the glistening waters of Doctor’s Cave Beach, one of the prettiest beaches on the entire island.
Those who want to stay out of the sun can enjoy the restorative plunge pools at the Irie Baths and Spa.
S Hotel Jamaica Rooms
Accommodations are sleek and monochromatic, highlighting ocean and city views. Balconies adorn most rooms to make the most of the tropical air, spa suites have wicker-wrapped soaking tubs and the hotel’s signature Sky Suite tops the property with 20-foot ceilings and soaring windows.
Plus, each room has its own record player with Bob Marley’s Legend album—a perfect way to set the mood on your vacation!
Eating at S Hotel Jamaica
The hotel’s main restaurant, Rock Steady, features locally-grown ingredients and artisanal Jamaican menu items as well as international cuisine. This air-conditioned oasis overlooks the swimming-pool scene for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also the Pool Bar and Grill where organic herbs make an appearance in the craft cocktails, the Sky Deck for upscale cocktails with a view or Tracks and Records for casual dining. The Ska Cafe is a great spot to start your day with an almond milk coffee or fresh juice.
