Calling all college football fans, it’s time to take a beach vacation. The Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl kicks off each year in December at Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas, where NCAA Division I teams make touchdowns on Caribbean turf. You don’t have to be a football fan to enjoy the events though, here’s your guide to planning the ultimate Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl experience, from bowl events to accommodations and activities that will score.
About the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl
The FIU Panthers will take on the Toledo Rockets at the fifth-annual Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl at Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium on Friday, December 21, 2018 that will also be covered by ESPN.
The Bahamas Bowl is sponsored by Elk Grove Village, Illinois, “home to the largest industrial park in the United States,” and the bowl itself uses the village’s slogan, Makers wanted. Started back in 2014, the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl was the first major (FBS or historical equivalent) bowl game played outside the US and Canada between two US teams since January 1, 1937. Elk Grove Village announced sponsorship of the bowl in July 2018, marking it the first time a non-tourist municipality has ever sponsored a bowl game, and the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism refers to the sporting event as “Football, family and fun.”
